Good to know: WhatsApp messages are built and being switched on with the first stores that connect a WhatsApp Business account.

Before you start

  • A WhatsApp Business account on Meta’s Cloud API, and message templates approved by Meta (this usually takes a day or two).
  1. 1

    Connect your number

On Connect, fill the Phone number ID, Business account ID and the number customers will see, then the Access token and App secret, and press Save token. Copy the callback address and verify token into Meta’s dashboard.

    Step 1: Connect your number
  2. 2

    Choose which messages to send

Tick the messages you want — order placed, packed, shipped, delivered, delivery failed, the cash-on-delivery check and the basket reminder — press Save and switch sending on.

Step 2: Choose which messages to send
  3. 3

    Set up each message

On Messages, press Set up on each: the template name you registered with Meta, its language and the wording exactly as approved. Then Save this message.

Step 3: Set up each message
  4. 4

    Check what was sent

Message log shows every message and, if one was skipped, why. Stop takes a number off the list.

Step 4: Check what was sent
